Just when you thought you'd caught them all!

SO!!

Pokemon Black and White have been released, with the addition of 150+ new pokemon to the series, bring the total from 493 to a whopping 649 catchable beasties!

Anyway to the review!!.
The game kicks off the with traditional 3 starter pokemon, a water type, grass type and fire type, by the names of Oshawatt, Snivy and Tepig. respectively.
Once you've chosen your partner for the story your two friends (Bianca and Cheren) choose the other two pokemon and being their own journey.

The game follows the traditional "complete the pokedex" quest this time set by a new professor by the name of Juniper. So there are a few changes! But wait.. As a new design Game Freak added a new regional "enemy" called Team Plasma who are on a mission to make all trainers release their pokemon since they believe it to be wrong to keep the pokemon stored in pokeballs. Team Plasma is headed up by a naive young trainer called "N" who apparently the inherent king of Team Plasma.

The biggest change to the game by far is the 3D perspective of the game, something that can be seen as a better example in the following locations in the game:
  • DragonSpiral Tower
  • Celestial Tower
  • Victory Road
  • Pokemon League
  • Abyssal Ruins
Remember in the good old days when Poke Mart and Poke Center were two different buildings either marked out by name on the building or a coloured roof? Well no more! They're now one single building which makes things a whole load easier with your sick pokemon you can heal them and buy the right tools to kick your way through the Elite Four.

As with all the pokemon games there are several legendaries to see within the game. From the well known Reshiram and Zekrom to the amazingly elusive Victini.
I must confess as an avid Pokemon player that you will be amazed with the cutscene graphics, in fact here is a link to the Cutscene involving the Legendary Zekrom, taken from Pokemon Black.

So the scores:

Graphics: 10/10
Honestly I cannot fault them, they're better than ever and its just such an awesome game to play.

Completion speed: 8/10
For my liking I found the game ended too quickly, but then again thats my personal feeling since I've been, gone and played practically every version of pokemon that ever existed.

Re-Playability: 10/10
The game will never get old, its just a simple story with that little bit extra thrown into it.

Sounds: 10/10
Its got a whole new music score, how awesome is that. Even the battle music has been dusted off and put through its paces.

So all in all the game is so much better than its predecessors and I therefore recommend it to you all, it is a seriously good buy for its content.

Plus if your a UK player you can catch Victini from March 4th until April 22nd. Of course you should know this already since each game ships with a small notice telling you about it, go on, its really worth it you know.

Until Next Time!

Next in line

Ok, so my "geeky" side of me got the better of me and I bought Pokemon Black.

I do hear that it isn't out yet in the US but I do SO recommend it, anyways back to the news, I am going to start writing a Pokemon Black Review over the coming few days/weeks, I will also include submissions from a close friend who purchased the White version of the game.

All I can say is Pre-Order it !!! It really makes a difference!!!!

All for now
Dan
